Stan Scanlon and David Goncalves made a presentation to the 2007 DATIA national conference entitled "Are Your Randoms Truly Random?" This hour long session highlighted the rationale for random drug and alcohol testing programs, along with the concepts needed to understand mathematical randomness. It has now been distilled into a shorter fast-paced PowerPoint show including a full narration by Stan and David.

Statistical probabilities is a desert-dry subject, but this lively presentation is far from boring. In plain English and with easy-to-understand examples, they show what kind of results to expect from a random selection system and why. They also offer examples (from our tech support archives) showing how to structure your random programs to achieve the results you want--and the avoid problems and aggravation you don't want. Viewing tip: If you need to pause the presentation press the ESC key. After restarting, right click on the presentation screen, choose GO TO SLIDE from the local menu that appears. From there you can navigate to start on any slide in the presentation.
